Surf Instructor / Lifeguards
Role: Qualified instructor to teach the surfers during sessions / qualified lifeguard to lifeguard surf sessions.
Location: Surf school or Lagoon side.
Role: Qualified first aider to be the first port of call if there is a first aid incident - it is essential that the volunteer fulfilling this role has an up to date first aid certificate.
Location: To be stationed in the wetsuit room.
Role: Select appropriate size wetsuits for surfers, Hand them out and collect in and put away at the end of the session. There is a signing out sheet for kit to enable us to keep track of equipment.
Due to Child Protection Rules, club volunteers will not help young people put on/take off wetsuits.
Parents/guardians must make sure that the wetsuits their young people are wearing fit properly and are suitable for the conditions (i.e. not baggy and thick enough) and that wetsuit boots, hats and gloves are worn in colder conditions.
Location: To be stationed at SS reception.
Role: Collect subs and ensure CSDC surfers are registered for the session.
Young people are the responsibility of parents/guardians when they are not in the water with coaches.
SURF Academy Lead
Location: Surf academy and lagoon side.
Role: Sign surfers in to the academy. Take surfers through a warm up 10 minutes before their session begins. With parents/guardians take surfers to lagoon side. To ensure all surf boards are ready for each session, correctly sized boards are handed to surfers and that surf boards are stored correctly (leashes wrapped round fins).
Location: Surf academy, reception and wetsuit room
Role: Co-ordinates internal activities making sure smooth transition from reception through to the surf academy.
Location: Lagoon side
Role: Co-ordinates external activities, manages change over of groups, makes sure surfers are sticking to the rules and their allocated surf spot,
